The Richter Park Golf Course is considered one of the top 25 golf courses in the United States. It was built in 1971 in a picturesque part of Danbury, the sought-after Aunt Hack area, which is very residential, yet situated close to main roads.
Address: 100 Aunt Hack Road
Danbury, CT 06811
At present, the Richter Park Golf Course is surrounded by brilliant fall colors, which we might be enjoying for the last week in Connecticut. The park offers winding hiking paths and open views of the West Lake reservoir.
Richter Park is a municipal, 18-hole course, with a course rating of 73.0 and a slope rating of 130 on Blue grass. The Park is open to residents as well as to visitors. The green fees for local Danbury denizens with proper ID’s can be as low as $30.00 before April 1st and only $35.00 thereafter. There are special rates for seniors, students and juniors. Junior camps are available and there are various seasonal events planned during the year, such as for Halloween, for example.
There are also two tennis courts on the premises. My favorite is the Cafe on the Green Restaurant at the club house.
Whether you are a golfer or not, Danbury’s Richter Park Golf Course is our local treasure for all to enjoy. The foliage alone is brilliant. It’s a beautiful and tranquil place.
